Development Economist

$35-70/hr Remote Freelance STEM

About the Role

We're looking for experienced development economists to help shape how AI understands global economics. Your expertise will directly influence the accuracy, depth, and nuance of AI systems tackling some of the world's most complex economic challenges — from poverty and inequality to international development and growth.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. Work on your own schedule and contribute meaningfully to cutting-edge AI research.

What You'll Do

• Review and evaluate AI-generated development economics content for accuracy and contextual nuance
• Assess AI reasoning on topics like economic growth, inequality, poverty reduction, and global development
• Provide structured, expert feedback to improve the quality of AI training data
• Apply your real-world or academic experience to validate complex economic scenarios and explanations
• Work independently and asynchronously at a pace that suits your schedule

Who You Are

• 3+ years of experience teaching, researching, or working in development economics
• Strong command of global economic issues, data interpretation, and policy frameworks
• Able to evaluate written economic reasoning critically and communicate feedback clearly
• Comfortable working independently on structured review tasks
• Detail-oriented and reliable

Nice to Have

• Graduate degree in Economics or a closely related field
• Experience in field research, NGO work, or international economic policy
• Familiarity with AI systems or content evaluation workflows
