Job SummaryUnder general supervision, this position is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of patients, specimens, and medication, throughout the hospital as assigned. This position reports to the Supervisor, Patient Transportation.Essential FunctionsPracticing safe lifting and techniques, transports patients by assisting patients in and out of cars, lifting patients on and off beds, moving patients to and from special services and treatment areas using wheelchairs, gurneys, or moveable beds.Transports medications, patient charts, specimens, and blood appropriately as directed.Transports bodies to the morgue and assists in placing them in the cooler. Assists in moving bodies to the autopsy table.Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities provided.QualificationsRequiredHigh School Diploma or equivalent.Requires successful completion of three months of on-the-job-training.CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Upon Hire Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross Upon Hire.PreferredExperience in patient transportation in an acute hospital environment is desired.About Corewell HealthAs a team member at Corewell Health, you will play an essential role in delivering personalized health care to our patients, members, and our communities.
